Q4 2020 Social Networking App Trends in Europe: Top Performers

WhatsApp Messenger, published by WhatsApp Inc., showed a consistent revenue trend in Q4, starting at approximately $639K in the last week of September and peaking at $724K in late October. Downloads surged from nearly 2M at the end of September to over 2.4M in the week leading up to Christmas. The weekly active users held strong, with a slight dip in early November but recovering to around 379M by the end of December.
Telegram Messenger downloads remained consistent, with a peak of 1.6M in early October, and ended the quarter with around 1.3M downloads. The weekly active users saw a gradual increase, starting at around 97M and ending the year just above 101M.
Facebook by Meta Platforms, Inc., generated a notable revenue increase from approximately $269K to $421K by the year's end. Downloads saw a mid-quarter peak at 1.4M in late November, while weekly active users remained above the 317M mark throughout the quarter.
Messenger, also under Meta Platforms, Inc., saw revenues ranging from around $10K to $13K during the quarter. Downloads peaked at 1.4M in late October and weekly active users were fairly stable, ending the quarter with around 220M.
Discord - Chat, Talk & Hangout experienced a significant revenue increase from approximately $91K to $256K. Downloads started at just over 1M and saw a slight decrease to 870K by the end of December. Active users showed growth from 28M to over 33M during the quarter.
